I recommend the pub "whisky" nearby National Taiwan University. We have a wedding party last December and I think the place was great. They have a
cozy party room with carpet and fire place, indepent music player, washingroom, and even a garden in the middle. By the way, they have lots of experience for preparing such a party and are flexible to our need.
I think the room is good for 30~70 persons. We have more than 80 guests coming, much more than our expected 50 persons. It was not very crowded and they did not have any extra charge afterwards. I enjoyed the party very much and think we are lucky to find the place. The only suggestion is to bring your own CD. Maybe I'm too old to enjoy their DJ's selection. I would come more often if they change their music.
I actually think their drinks is a little bit expensive. However, it is still a good
deal because they could be included in the room rental. They do have some
non-alcoholic drinks and it is talkable if you want them to make something not on
the menu or to bring your own stuff. The food is the Thai-style and basically
only offered after 8:30pm. (Their business hour is from 9pm to 3am). I sugguested you to communicate with the chef about the menu, portion, timing, and service style, so it could match with your expectation. Their business hour is adjustable without extra charge. Because we have some long-distance guests coming, we set up the party time from 7pm-11pm and we asked them to open the room
a half hour earlier for us to set up the wedding cake. We eventually stayed
up to 1:30pm but their service was good as usual.
Another advice is about the communication with the pub owner. He is a film-maker and might be too busy to get everything organized. Better having a check
list to make sure things going on smoothly. We were kind of worried before
since we had no experience and there were too many uncertainties. However, I think they were very coorperated and very willing to cover for us.
It's kind of troublesome to make a big party, but I think it is worthwhile to go
for it. Good luck and have a good time.
